Black in Tech Conference – Kennedy‑King College

As part of Kennedy‑King College’s Black History Month celebration, the Black in Tech Conference will spotlight innovation, storytelling, and the legacy of Black pioneers in technology. Attendees will have the chance to experience two powerful cinematic VR installations:

Traveling While Black – An immersive journey into the historical and ongoing challenges Black Americans face around freedom of movement and safety. This experience invites viewers to confront the realities of racial inequality while reflecting on the importance of community‑created safe spaces.

MLK: Now Is the Time – A compelling, interactive exploration of the themes in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. This VR experience weaves together first‑person narratives and a modern interpretation of the March on Washington, inspiring dialogue on the inequities that continue to shape society today.

In addition to the VR experiences, the event will feature a Gallery Walk honoring influential Black tech innovators, celebrating their contributions to science, engineering, computing, and modern technology. Food will be provided, making this a vibrant, thoughtful, and community‑focused experience.
